They were used in the past as stores for the hay and the rural tools.<\/p>\n<p>The ground floor was used as a barn for the animals. Val del Biois is full of these <em>tabi\u00e0<\/em> and they usually are very big. This means that in the past times the valley was rich in animals and pastures and the rural works were prevalent.<\/p>\n<p>Every house had its own t<em>abi\u00e0<\/em>, attached or very close to the main house.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The most ancient <em>tabi\u00e0<\/em> were built with one-piece trunks according to the blockbau technique, while the later\u00a0 technique used wooden boards.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Every room of the tabi\u00e0 had its own purpose:<em> Stalot: <\/em>little barn next to the big barn; <em>d\u00e8da: <\/em>a kind of storeroom;<em> Soler: <\/em>terrace for the hay drying; <em>era basa: <\/em>first floor; <em>era auta: <\/em>second floor; <em>arch\u00e8r: <\/em>a sort of rural attic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">On the <em>tabi\u00e0<\/em> made with wooden boards you can often see the <em>barcon\u00e8le, <\/em>a sort of fretwork patterns used as decoration as well as ventilation system.<\/p>\n<p>On the top of the roof there was the date of the buiding together with the family insigna and a metal blessed cross.
