Autumn in Val del Biois, time for harvest and the colourful wood

The foliage and the explosion of the colours of enrosadira are the fairytale of the Dolomites

In the local dialect autumn has got a female sweet connotation: fardima, a word which means time for harvest.

Someone thinks that autumn is the best season, the time when walking in the village lanes you can listen to the crackles of the first fires in the houses, while the wood gets the yellow, orange and red colour.

It’s time for the first snow on the tops, for the clear sky and the first rains. It’s time for relax preparing for the cold winter.
It’s time for enrosadira, when the sun reflects on the rocks and the Dolomites acquire an orange and violet colour. Time for meditation.
September, October and November are ideal for the latest excursions in the woods. The sun is still warm and it is a breathtaking experience to watch the foliage and to walk in the creaking colourful leaves. The quietness of the day is interrupted by the jingling of the cows which come back to the valley from the pastures.

In autumn you can still listen to the pouring of the powerful water in the waterfalls or in the streams before this leaves the place to ice.
And finally Mount Civetta which takes care of Val del Biois with its spectacular orange wall at the sunset, a real magic souvenir to keep into the soul.
